Welcome

The Rockingham Kwinana region in the south-west of the Perth metropolitan area has long been recognised as a desirable place to live, work, play and invest.

The Rockingham Kwinana Development Office (RKDO) is a State Government initiative that brings together representatives from LandCorp, Department of Planning, City of Rockingham and Town of Kwinana.

The RKDO is now working hard to implement major infrastructure projects to help the region realise its full potential.

Cape Peron Marina Project Premier's Announcement

The development of a modern, family friendly marina precinct at Cape Peron is a step closer.

In September 2009 the Premier of Western Australia announced the State Government will proceed to the next phase of the Cape Peron marina project.

This involves a range of detailed environmental investigations and a formal public environmental assessment by the Environmental Protection Authority. This independent and comprehensive process provides the community with a number of opportunities to have its say.

The marina precinct will deliver much-needed and long-awaited boating pens and services together with a full range of community and visitor facilities, including:

  • Clubhouse sites and pens for local boating clubs
  • Cafes and restaurants
  • Facilities for the local marine eco-tourism industry
  • Affordable family holiday accommodation and short-stay serviced accommodation,
filling a gap in the local tourist market
  • The opportunity to allocate a site for a marine science centre of excellence

For nearly 40 years, Rockingham residents have been talking about the need for boating facilities and a secure marina.
